Gastro Health adds Dr. Andres Gelrud — 4 notes

Miami-based Gastro Health added gastroenterologist Andres Gelrud, MD, to its staff.

Here’s what you should know:

1. Dr. Gelrud will also serve as the Baptist Health System’s Miami Cancer Institute pancreatic disease program director.

2. He specializes in treating acute, recurrent and chronic pancreatitis as well as conditions that lead to pancreatitis.

3. Dr. Gelrud earned his medical degree from the University of Venezuela. He completed an internship and residency at Boston-based Tufts Medical Center and fellowships in gastroenterology, pancreatology and interventional endoscopy at Boston-based Brigham and Women’s Health.

4. Gastro Health President James Leavitt, MD, said in a release, “We understand that our community counts on Gastro Health to provide outstanding, specialized GI care so we are thrilled to have Dr. Andres Gelrud join us.
