Here are eight updates on GI companies from the past week:

GMed, a Modernizing Medicine Co., will soon become Modernizing Medicine Gastroenterology with a number of its offerings also taking on new identities later this year.

Pentax Medical entered into distribution agreements with Avantis Medical Systems and CapsoVision. Pentax Medical also launched its C2 CryoBalloon Ablation System

Evoke Pharma submitted a new drug application to the FDA for its acute and recurrent diabetic gastroparesis nasal spray Gimoti. The spray relieves symptoms in adult women.

Salix Pharmaceuticals presented data from its phase 3 trial of Rifaximin, finding the drug treated irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea patients effectively but with a small number of adverse events.

Motus GI highlighted data showing its Pure-Vu System lowered repeat colonoscopy cost and colorectal cancer incidence rate because of the system's ability to improve colon prep.

Commonwealth Diagnostics International will officially re-launch IBSchek, the first clinically validated blood test for diarrhea-predominant and mixed-type irritable bowel syndrome.

Fujifilm Medical Systems debuted its new 700 series endoscopes at Digestive Disease Week, June 2 to June 5 in Washington, D.C.
