1. The findings are from a study published online by Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
2. The double-blind, sham-controlled, multi-center European study included 44 patients.
3. Prior to the TIF procedure, patients were required to refrain from PPI consumption for at least 10 days.
4. Of the randomized patients treated with the TIF procedure, 59 percent were determined to be in remission after six months as compared to 9 percent of patients in the sham treatment group.
5. The study also reported TIF procedure patients had improved acid reflux time from 8.89 to 3.73. The sham-controlled group had no changes in acid reflux time.
