Here are four things to know:

1. The TIF 2.0 procedure is a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure that allows anatomical correction of the gastric valve without incision or complications associated with laparoscopic surgical fundoplication.

2. The medical device company EndoGastric Solutions developed the procedure.

3. The meta-analysis of three randomized controlled trials with data from 233 patients with chronic long-term refractory GERD compared the TIF 2.0 procedure with proton pump inhibitor therapy and sham endoscopy with or without PPI therapy.

4. TIF subjects had improved esophageal pH, a decrease in PPI utilization and improved quality of life at three years after the procedure.
