Dr. Sam Pace helps create colon cancer awareness license plate: 5 key notes

Retired gastroenterologist Sam Pace, MD, created a license plate designed to promote colorectal cancer screenings, the DJournal reports.

Here’s what you need to know.

1. Sixteen Northeast Mississippi counties accounted for 40 percent of the plate’s total pre-orders.

2. Dr. Pace recruited North Mississippi Medical Center graphic artist Leslie Geoghegan to design the plate.

3. The American College of Gastroenterology presented the pair with an award.

4. Dr. Pace said gastroenterologists from other parts of Mississippi advocated for the tags.

5. A portion of the tags’ proceeds will support efforts to raise awareness of colon cancer.
