The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation received a $5 million donation from the Litwin family to fund inflammatory bowel disease research.

1. The foundation is renaming its Broad Medical Research Program to the Litwin IBD Pioneers initiative in honor of the late Leonard Litwin.
2. The donation will support the foundation's research projects around IBD.
3. Crohn's & Colitis Foundation CEO Michael Osso said in a release, "In order to make strides toward finding IBD cures, we must fund the highest quality, innovative research possible. We are so grateful to the Litwin family for their most generous gift that will allow us to continue supporting novel research projects from a variety of disciplines around the globe. Litwin IBD Pioneers will help bring us closer to realizing our vision of a future free of Crohn’s and colitis.”
