Dr. Lynch was the first to describe the hereditary form of non-polyposis colorectal cancer, which was named Lynch syndrome, after him.

He also researched hereditary forms of breast and ovarian cancers, as well as melanoma and pancreatic cancers.

Dr. Lynch’s research led to the creation of one of the largest databases of family cancer histories.
