Here are five recent GI studies to know:

1. Up to one third of patients with IBD experience anxiety, and one quarter have symptoms of depression, a systematic review and meta-analysis shows. 

2. Putting vaccine services in inflammatory bowel disease centers is critical to improving immunization rates, researchers say.

3. A new study has discovered a targeted opioid that could relieve pain from IBD without causing side effects. 

4. Long-term use of baby aspirin before a colorectal cancer diagnosis may reduce the risk of death, according to researchers from Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai.

5. A blood-based colorectal cancer test was found to be the most cost-effective alternative colorectal cancer test for people who didn’t want a colonoscopy or fecal immunochemical test.
