Here are four things to know.

1. Takeda focuses on oncology, gastroenterology and neuroscience. The company also develops vaccines.

2. The company’s GI portfolio includes vonoprazan, pantoprazole, lansoprazole and dexlansoprazole for gastric acid-related disorders like gastroesophageal reflux disease.

3. In March, the European Commission approved Takeda and TiGenix’s perianal fistulas drug Alofisel, the first time the European Commission approved an allogeneic stem cell therapy.

4. Takeda is Japan’s largest pharmaceutical company. It was founded in 1781 by Chobei Takeda I.
