Piedmont Cartersville (Ga.), part of Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare, in partnership with Cumming, Ga.-based Heart and Vascular Care, successfully completed the first cardiac ablation procedure in northwest Georgia on Aug. 22, according to a Sept. 2 Cosa Valley News  report.

Cardiac ablation is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat arrhythmias, such as atrial flutter, by targeting abnormal electrical pathways in the heart. The treatment aims to restore normal rhythm, relieve symptoms and improve quality of life.

The procedure was led by electrophysiologist Carlos Calle-Muller, MD.

The addition of electrophysiology services reflects Piedmont Cartersville’s and Heart & Vascular Care’s commitment to expanding specialized cardiac care for patients in the region, according to the report.
