Maryland medical center acquires cardiology practice

Glen Burnie-based University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center has acquired the Heart Center of Northern Anne Arundel County.

The Heart Center, also based in Glen Burnie, Md., will join University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Heart Associates, the cardiology group affiliated with UM BWMC, according to an April 7 news release. 

The cardiologists at the Heart Center will continue to provide care to patients at its Glen Burnie location. In addition, the Heart Center will be renamed to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Heart Associates at Madison Park.

Patient care at the Heart Center will not be disrupted by the transition.

The acquisition is effective April 1, the release said.
