A defender for the Los Angeles-based Angel City women’s soccer team, Savy King, has undergone heart surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to a May 14 report from CNN.

Ms. King collapsed during a May 9 National Women’s Soccer League match, was administered CPR on the field and taken off with an oxygen mask.

She was transferred on May 10 to Cedars-Sinai, where physicians discovered a heart abnormality. Ms. King then underwent a successful surgery for the condition.

“She is now resting and recovering surrounded by her family, and her prognosis is excellent,” the team told CNN.
