Here’s what you should know:
1. Of the top 10 imaging providers, seven had more patients in 2017 than in 2016. However, dropping reimbursement and added costs are restricting growth.
2. Buffalo-based Erie Medical Center’s Joseph Cirillo said, “We are busier than ever with decreasing reimbursement.” A sentiment echoed by Buffalo-based Dent Neurologic Institute’s Joseph Fritz, who said, “Cost-cutting in medical imaging has been too extreme. Together with extensive preauthorizations, access to important diagnostic insights is hampered, ultimately delaying treatment.”
3. Buffalo-based Catholic Health saw the most imaging patients in 2017. The system had 486,798 total patients, with 160,163 of those being outpatient.
