Optum, UnitedHealth Group’s healthcare services arm, is closing Family Medical Group Northeast, a clinic in Portland, Ore., according to a Feb. 11 report from Willamette Week.
The clinic, which has provided care for more than 30 years, was acquired by Optum in 2021.
According to a Feb. 5 letter sent to patients, the closure is due to “several unavoidable factors.”
In November, Optum closed physician practices in Connecticut and New Jersey.
Optum provided the following statement to Becker’s:
“We understand how important access to care is for our patients; however, due to ongoing provider shortages and recruitment challenges affecting health care organizations nationwide, we have made the difficult decision to close the Family Medical Group. We are communicating directly with our patients to provide information and support for their ongoing care needs, including access to prescription refills and test results.”
