Novant Health transferring cases from outpatient surgery center to hospital — 3 insights

Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health plans to transfer some services from Charlotte, N.C.-based Ballantyne Outpatient Surgery Center to a new hospital, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

1. Novant plans to shift two operating rooms and one gastroenterology room from the surgery center to a new, 36-bed hospital in Charlotte. The timeline for the transition is unclear.

2. The health system will also move beds from Charlotte-based Presbyterian Medical Center into the new facility.

3. Novant received conditional approval April 9 to build the $154 million hospital. The hospital is expected to open in 2023.
