New Hampshire health system to shutter practices, shift surgical procedures to ASC — 6 insights

Laconia, N.H.-based LRGHealthcare will close several locations and end certain medical services after facing long-term financial difficulties, according to the Laconia Daily Sun. Here are six insights:

1. LRGHealthcare is closing surgical services and operating rooms at Franklin (N.H.) Regional Hospital April 27. Elective surgeries will be turned over to the Gilford, N.H.-based Hillside Ambulatory Surgery Center and Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia.

2. Moultonborough (N.H.) Family Practice, Newfound Family Practice in Bristol, N.H. and Laconia Clinic Pediatrics are closing in March.

3. The health system will undergo program restructuring and eliminate some administrative positions, resulting in the layoffs of 16 employees.

4. At the end of February, Laconia Clinic Lab and LRGH Lab will be consolidated.

5. Lakes Region General Hospital will no longer deliver babies as of May 30, but LRGHealthcare will continue providing prenatal, postnatal, women’s health and pediatric care.

6. LRGHealthcare recorded an operating loss of $1.5 million in fiscal year 2017.
