City fights against St. Elizabeth Hospital’s move to new facility, including ambulatory care center: 4 key points

The city of Belleville, Ill., filed a lawsuit to stop St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, currently in Belleville, from moving to O’Fallon, Ill., where a groundbreaking event is planned for tomorrow, according to Fox 2.

Here are four key points:

1. St. Elizabeth’s won the state’s approval in an 8-0 vote to build a replacement hospital and ambulatory care center, according to a statement.

2. The hospital also said they are taking measures to make sure the new center is build on time and on budget.

3. St. Elizabeth’s says they are “disappointed” with Belleville’s unwillingness to accept the state’s Review Board decision.

4. A member of Hospital Sisters Health System, St. Elizabeth’s, recently changed their name from “Friends of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital” to HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, officially effective July 1 of this year.
