California medical campus doubling surgery center size, adding medical buildings — 4 insights

Bakersfield, Calif.-based Rio Bravo Medical Center is in the midst of developing four medical buildings to add to its campus, ABC 23 reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. The campus currently has a 65,000-square-foot cancer and imaging center with an attached surgery center. By the end of 2019, the cancer and surgery center will have its size doubled.

2. Developers plan to add a 50-bed acute rehabilitation hospital and 35,000 square feet of medical office space.

3. Project developer Gary Bruno said, “It’s designed to complement the existing medical [care] in the community.”

4. In addition to the medical space, the project will have 16 acres of retail space. No tenants have been announced for the space yet.
