Here are three surgery centers and hospitals that shut their doors or announced plans to do so in the past six months:
1. Physician-owned hospital in El Paso closed, citing financial & operational challenges
El Paso (Texas) Specialty Hospital, a physician-owned facility, closed at the end of 2018 for financial and operational reasons.
2. Naples Day Surgery shuttered
Naples (Fla.) Day Surgery closed permanently Oct. 19, 2018, due to low patient volume and competition from other surgery centers.
3. Joint venture Methodist North Surgery Center closing in January
Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare's Methodist North Surgery Center is closing in January 2019. The health system and surgery center are both located in Memphis, Tenn.
