WalletHub analyzed the happiness of residents in the 50 states and the District of Columbia, zoning in on emotional and physical well-being, work environment as well as community and environment.
The analysts measured happiness through 28 metrics within these three broader areas, including adequate-sleep rate. The adequate-sleep rate included the self-reported impacts of sleep deprivation on personal happiness.
Here are the five states with the highest adequate-sleep rates:

4. Montana
5. Nebraska
Here are the five states with the lowest adequate-sleep rates:
1. Hawaii
2. Maryland
3. Kentucky
4. Michigan
5. Alabama
