The Aug. 27 rankings were created based on three main categories: health outcomes, healthcare costs and access to care. 

Here are the 10 highest-ranked states for healthcare and their score out of 100, according to the publication:

1. Rhode Island: 100

2. Hawaii: 97.5 

3. New Hampshire: 92.7

4. Minnesota: 90.1

5. Colorado: 79.4

6. Washington: 78.6

7. Iowa: 77.4

8. New Jersey: 75.6

9. Maryland: 75.4

10. Massachusetts: 74.8

Here are the 10 lowest-ranked states:

1. West Virginia: 0

2. Alaska: 1.3

3. Louisiana: 11.5

4. Oklahoma: 12

5. Mississippi: 13.3

6. Tennessee: 16.3

7. Missouri: 17.8

8. New Mexico: 18.9

9. North Carolina: 22.4

10. South Dakota: 25.9
