Physician pay increases by specialty

Radiology, anesthesiology and pathology saw the highest pay jump between 2023 and 2024, according to the American Medical Group Association’s 2024 Medical Group Compensation and Productivity Survey.

The survey includes data from 190,000 providers over 190 specialties. 

Primary care:

2024: 3.6%

2023: 6%

2022: 3%

2021: .4%

Medical specialties:

2024: 5.1%

2023: 1.4%

2022:1.6%

2021: -.4%

Surgical specialties:

2024: 5.5%

2023: 1.6%

2022: 3.9%

2021: -.1%

Radiology/anesthesiology/pathology:
