1. The recognition came from The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of hospital organizations in the United States.
2. They are an independent, nonprofit organization that accredits and certifies nearly 21,000 healthcare organizations and programs in the United States. Their accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards.
3. This was part of The Joint Commission’s 2015 annual report titled “American’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety.”
4. Garrett Regional Medical Center is among the top performers in the nation for surgical care.
5. The Top Performer program recognizes hospitals for improving performance on evidence-based interventions that increase the chances of healthy outcomes for patients with certain conditions. In order to be recognized as a top performer, hospitals must meet three performance criteria based on accountability measure data, including the cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported accountability measures.
