3. Dr. Hekman and his team currently practice in Lakewood four days a week and plan on providing full time care once the new center opens.

4. Dr. Hekman is an advocate for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities. He joined the Cleveland Clinic in 2008 at the Beachwood Family Health and Surgery Center. He assisted in the designing and launching of the Center for LGBT Care in the Chagrin Falls Family Center, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.

5. Dr. Heckman graduated from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed his residency at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in California.
