Dover ASC gets new medical director

Alfred Hanmer, MD, has been named medical director of Dover, Del.-based Newton-Wellesley Hospital’s Outpatient Surgery Center, according to a report from the Dover-Sherborn press.

Dr. Hanmer received his medical degree from the Boston-based Tufts University School of Medicine and is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. He is also an assistant clinical professor in orthopedic surgery at his alma mater, assistant director of the Newton-Wellesley Hospital’s Kaplan Joint Center and is associate chairman of orthopedic surgery at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital’s department of orthopedic surgery.

The hospital’s surgery center opened in 2012. It is a 17,000-square-foot center with four operating rooms. Since its opening day, the center has performed more than 3,500 procedures, according to the report.
