DISC Sports & Spine Center serving as medical provider in America’s 35th yacht race: 5 things to know

ORACLE TEAM USA selected Marina Del Rey, Calif.-based DISC Sports & Spine Center to serve as their official medical provider in the 35th America’s Cup, a yacht race.

Here are five things to know:

1.  Robert Bray, MD, a neurological surgeon, founded DISC.

2. The team opted to work with DISC following two successful surgeries Dr. Bray performed. He performed surgery to treat ORACLE team member Jimmy Spithill’s tennis elbow. Mr. Spithill contracted a severe infection following the surgery, which Dr. Bray swiftly treated. Dr. Bray saved the athlete’s arm.

3. Dr. Bray also performed a neck procedure on ORACLE team member Tom Slingsby who suffered from pain following a boat crashing years ago.

4. DISC’s surgery centers throughout California have AAAAHC accreditation.

5. DISC is also the official medical services provider for Red Bull.
