Here are four things to know:
1. The man, William Worthy II, helped sell fraudulent health insurance policies to more than 17,000 victims around the United States.
2. Nashville-based Smart Data Solutions marketed the plans.
3. In 2010, the state of Tennessee liquidated Smart Data solutions and related entities after a court found they acted as an unlicensed insurance company.
4. Mr. Worthy II and his co-conspirators embezzled more than $5.4 million for their personal use, and Mr. Worthy II accepted responsibility for more than $7.3 million of losses from the insurance scheme.
