Here are five points:

1. The co-author of the bill to repeal the ACA, Sen. Hatch wrote a proposal for a new plan that places patients at the center.

2. Sen. Hatch’s new plan involves offering a refundable tax credit that lower- and middle-income families may use to purchase their desired private coverage.

3. Rife with financial reforms, the plan also prohibits insurance companies from refusing coverage to patients with pre-exiting conditions and allows young adults to remain on their parent’s coverage until 26 years old, state determining.

4. Already passed in the House in October, the repeal bill may undergo amendments in the Senate this week.

5. Many Republicans feel the ACA increased insurance premiums and deductible costs, as well as decreased options of physicians.
