New bill introduced to halt ICD-10 transition: 3 key points

Representative Ted Poe (R-Texas) has introduced new legislation to put a stop to ICD-10 implementation in October, according to a Medscape report. Here are three key points the bill.

1. The new legislation is titled the Cutting Costly Codes Act of 2015. The bill would bar HHS from mandating the transition to ICD-10.

2. Rep. Poe’s legislation is co-sponsored by Mo Brooks (R.-Ala.), Blake Farenthold (R-Tex.), Morgan Griffith (R.-Va.), Tom Price (R.-Ga.), Phil Roe (R.-Tenn.) and Mike Rogers (R.-Ala.).

3. Rep. Poe and Senator Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) introduced similar legislation in April 2013, according to the report, but it failed to gain much traction.
