Here’s what you need to know.

1. The partnership — named Carolina Complete Health — comes after Gov. Roy Cooper submitted his request to expand the state’s Medicaid program.

2. Under the new agreement, the state would give each provider a set amount of money with a healthcare company responsible for any cost overruns.

3.The partnership hopes it can secure one of the three statewide managed care contracts.

4. The North Carolina Medical Society was a staunch opponent managed care organizations, and made the decision to ensure it could still “have a say-so” in the future of healthcare.
