The Patient Safety Movement Foundation is imploring legislators to stop efforts to eliminate President Barack Obama's health law without first enacting a viable replacement plan, according to Yahoo! Finance.
The foundation says the replacement should maintain the ACA's ability to provide coverage to more than 20 million citizens. Patient Safety Movement Founder Joe Kiani said, "Repealing the ACA without a thoughtful process in place to make hospitals safer is bad public policy and irresponsible," Yahoo! Finance reports.
Mr. Kiani said many programs within the ACA ensure patient safety, such as programs aimed at limiting healthcare-acquired infections. Without a suitable replacement plan, the Patient Safety Movement Foundation says the government would be putting Americans' lives at risk.
