Healthcare consumers receive $2.4B+ in premiums rebates, CMS reports — 4 key notes

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services reported healthcare consumers received more than $2.4 billion in premium rebates since 2011, according to RevCycle Intelligence.

Here are four key notes:

1. In 2014, more than 5.5 million consumers received nearly $470 million in rebates.

2. California had the largest statewide 2014 Medical Loss Ratio rebates of nearly $98 million

3. Florida had nearly $60 million in MLR rebates last year.

4. The number of consumers connected to plans where they were owed refunds fell by over 1 million from 2013 to 2014.
