Here are five notes:
1. This year, the average deductible was $1,500, up from last year’s average ($1,000).
2. The survey found although employees pay more for out-of-network services and emergency room visits, their premiums are staying “relatively” stagnant.
3. On the other hand, employees are paying less as they are passing costs onto their employees. Last year, the average health plan cost employers $9,736. That figure dropped this year to $9,727.
4. Although deductibles are up 50 percent, almost half of employees continue to enroll in employer-sponsored Preferred Provider Organization plans.
5. Monthly premiums marginally increased from $140 last year to $144 in 2016.
