Here’s what you should know.
1. Anthem beat earning projections. It reported a $1.76 earnings per share, higher than estimates of $1.59 EPS.
2. The payer also beat revenue estimates, posting actual revenue of $21.5 billion to $20.9 billion estimates.
3. It wasn’t entirely positive for Anthem, however. Its benefit expense ratio deteriorated 20 basis points on a year-over-year basis to 87.2 percent.
4. Anthem also announced its 2017 projections. The company expects an adjusted net income of greater than $11.50 per share, a medical membership between 40.1 million and 40.3 million with an operating revenue between $86.5 and $87.5 billion.
