ACA expansions help more consumers receive coverage: 6 observations

Eighty-two percent of Americans enrolled in private coverage or government coverage reported satisfaction with coverage, based on a Commonwealth Fund report, according to Los Angeles Times.

Here are six observations:

1. Of those enrolled through the Affordable Care Act exchanges, 60 percent are receiving coverage they previously couldn’t access.

2. The ACA has improved health access for more than eight in 10 people.

3. The report concluded the ACA’s coverage expansions have benefited many of the people enrolled in them.

4. The report found more Medicaid beneficiaries (88 percent) reported satisfaction with coverage, compared to those enrolled in ACA commercial health plans.

5. Consumers enrolled in employer-provided health plans were most satisfied with their coverage.

6. Still, about 50 percent of marketplace plan consumers said they struggled with paying premiums in 2015.
