7 points on Americans' awareness on key ACA provisions

With Republicans launching their American Health Care Act, Kaiser Family Foundation polled the public about their knowledge on key ACA provisions as the replacement plan may impact many key elements.

Here are seven points:

1. Eighty-three percent said they were aware the ACA allowed young adults to stay on their parents' health plans until age 26.

2. A majority (82 percent) said they were aware the ACA mandates all Americans to have insurance or pay a penalty.

3. Regarding whether the ACA requires insurance plans purchased by individuals to include a minimum package of benefits, 71 percent reported being aware of this provision.

4. Only 42 percent said they knew an ACA provision prohibited insurance companies from charging women higher premiums then men.

5. Less than half (47 percent) were aware the ACA got rid of out-of-pocket costs for birth control.

6. Seventy-nine percent said they knew the ACA gave low- and moderate-income Americans financial help if they do not obtain insurance at work to help buy coverage.

7. Fifty-three percent said they were aware of an ACA provision eliminating out-of-pocket costs for certain preventive services and 59 percent knew it got rid of out-of-pocket costs for childhood preventive care.
