The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care conducted a survey and granted accreditation earlier this year. Here are five things to know about Pediatric Specialists of Virginia:

1. The Ambulatory Surgery Center of Pediatric Specialists of Virginia is a child-centric outpatient center with fellowship-trained pediatric anesthesiologists and physicians.

2. The medical and professional team works with patients and families to develop a personalized care plan, keeping the patient’s age and comfort in mind.

3. Children’s National Health System and Inova are parent institutions for the ASC, and many of the specialists performing cases at the ASC are from those institutions.

4. Common procedures at the ASC include hernia repair, tonsillectomy, tube placement, knee arthroscopy, eye muscle surgery and orchiectomy.

5. There are five specialists at the center, and Ramesh Patel, MD, is the medical director.
