1. Understand the basics of physician credentialing and privileging.
2. Make sure all resources are available for providers and clearly define the scope of practice for each provider requiring credentials.
3. Provide competent staff with enough time and the right tools to credential new providers, collect data and make assessments.
4. Review and evaluate credentialing, and make sure privileges are renewed or revised every two years.
5. Store files for all primary source data, updated licenses and peer reviews.
