Three things to know:
1. Build a checklist. ASCs can create their own facilities safety checklist to keep up with accreditation standards. ASCs can use industry resources from the Ambulatory Surgery Centers Association to get ideas from other centers.
2. Embrace technology. Digital platforms can streamline quality reporting for ASCs. These platforms also make it easier to track data over time, so ASCs can identify room for improvement.
3. Think outpatient. Applying an outpatient mindset to ASC facilities management is key. Because surgery centers are run differently than hospitals, staff need to be familiar with ASC-specific safety standards.
