PeaceHealth wins national recognition for sedation safety — 4 notes

Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth was nationally recognized for its sedation safety improvement efforts.

Four notes:

1. PeaceHealth was one of three health systems to receive the American Excess Insurance Exchange Risk Management Award from Premier Inc., a healthcare improvement company.

2. PeaceHealth's Andrea Halliday, MD, and Eleen Kirman, MD, developed an evidence-based moderate sedation policy for the health system's 10 medical centers.

3. The policy promotes standardized care and documentation, along with continuous education and testing requirements for non-anesthesiologist sedation practitioners.

4. Dr. Halliday is PeaceHealth's system chief clinical officer and CMO for its Oregon network. Dr. Kirman is the retired CMO for PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview, Wash.
