CMS Determines Relative Humidity Range for Anesthetizing Locations

CMS worked with several organizations, including The Joint Commission, to develop a new standard for humidity range in anesthetizing locations.

The governing body decided to adopt the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ defined range for relative humidity, which adjusts the lower range to 20 percent.

At the beginning of CMS-conducted surveys, healthcare organizations must declare if they have elected to use the “Waiver of Life Safety Code Anesthetizing Location Requirements.”
