Here’s what you should know.
1. When police arrived at the scene, they were allegedly fired upon by suspected killer, Bampumim Teixeira, 30. Mr. Teixeira was a former security guard, who was recently released from prison after finishing a nine-month sentence for robbing two banks, The Globe reports.
2. Police struck Mr. Teixeira and paramedics transported him to Boston-based Tufts Medical Center for treatment.
3. Officers examined Dr. Field’s and Di Bolanos’ bodies and found their hands were allegedly bound and their throats were slit. A message was allegedly written on one of their walls, and photos of the physicians were allegedly sliced up.
4. Police said the physicians and Mr. Teixeira had known each other, but police haven’t defined their exact relationship.
5. Dr. Field practiced at Beverly, Mass.-based North Shore Pain Management. Dr. Bolanos was a pediatric anesthesiologist at Boston-based Massachusetts Eye and Ear. In a statement, Mass Eye and Ear President and CEO John Fernandez said, “Dr. Bolanos was an outstanding pediatric anesthesiologist and a wonderful colleague, in the prime of both her career and life,” The Globe reports.
