Anesthesiologist Dr. Keith Polk publishes first children’s book: 5 highlights

Keith Polk, MD, an anesthesiologist in Pasadena, Calif., started a career as a children’s author, according to Pasadena Now.

Here are five highlights:

1. Dr. Polk published his first book, which is a 24-page children’s book called, The Mardi Grasfish.

2. He wrote the book in conjunction with Mardi Gras in New Orleans in February.

3. A lifelong fan of Mardi Gras, Dr. Polk collaborated with artist Eric Miranda for the story of a crawfish who petitions for his friends to ride the main float in the parade.

4. He plans to write two more children’s book in this trilogy, with settings in Brazil and France.

5. Dr. Polk has treated children throughout his career as a physician for 35 years.
