Mayo Clinic’s 8-year ophthalmology chair accepts new role in Arizona

University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson selected Jonathan Holmes, MD, to serve as chair of its ophthalmology department, effective July 31.

Dr. Holmes’ current title is Joseph E. and Rose Marie Green Professor of Visual Sciences and ophthalmology professor at Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, where he has chaired the ophthalmology department for eight years.

Dr. Holmes is also co-chair of the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group, a network focused on clinical trials for pediatric eye care and strabismus treatment.

An internationally recognized strabismus surgeon, Dr. Holmes also treats complex ocular misalignment and double vision in children and adults.
