Here are five things to know:
1. Mr. Kelly founded Emergency Physician Partners, a company to provide administrative services to emergency medicine practices nationwide.
2. Claritas Capital in Nashville provided $25 million in funding to launch the business. Mr. Kelly and his team will purchase emergency medicine practices with the funding.
3. Emergency Physician Partners is expected to begin acquiring practices during the first quarter of 2016. The company’s model focuses on preserving clinical independence for the physicians while relieving them of administrative duties.
4. Brady Sturgeon will be CFO and Brian White COO of Emergency Physician Partners. Mr. Sturgeon is a former vice president of development for LHP Hospital Group and Mr. White was founder and managing partner of Competitive Solutions.
5. There are around 3,000 hospitals that contract directly with independent emergency physician groups, a physician group largely unconsolidated at this time, according to the report.
