Sunshine Act database gets an overhaul

After two weeks of difficulty navigating the Open Payments website, CMS has issued a beta search tool for the database, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.

The search tool allows users to navigate the site by physician name, location, specialty, teaching hospital or company, and the website lists individual payments sorted by amount, according to the chosen filter. Search results also indicate group payments, general payments, research payments and company ownership, and payments include information on their “nature.”

CMS is currently soliciting feedback on the search tool and will make alterations to the website in a “refresh” that will occur on or before Dec. 31, according to the report.
