Eye Care Product Maker Akorn to Acquire Hi-Tech Pharmacal for $640M

Lake Forest, Ill.-based generic eye care product developer Akorn has purchased Amityville, N.Y.-based Hi-Tech Pharmacal for $640 million in cash and loans.

Akorn will now expand its product line into cold and cough treatments. The company’s combined annual revenue will be more than $500 million.
