Calif. Worker’s Compensation to Investigate E-Billing Violations

In response to recent complaints, the California Division of Workers’ Compensation has begun investigating whether or not claims administrators are accepting electronically submitted medical bills.

California Division of Workers' Compensation investigates e-billing violationsClaims administrators are required to accept electronic bills and can either accept e-bills through their own system or through a vendor, according to an Oct. 18. 2012, statute. E-billing participation is optional for medical providers.

Any claims administrators not complying with e-billing regulations can be subject to assessment and civil penalties, according to the report.
