Currently, optometrists are limited to the use of only topical anesthesia, but the advent of injectable anesthesia in optometrist practices would allow the ability to perform more complex surgical procedures.
A recent survey of Tennessee voters revealed that there is widespread support for the existing law that requires such complex surgeries to be performed by someone with a medical degree.
