The Office of Healthcare Quality and the HHS Partnership for Patients have announced the launch of a new infection prevention campaign for families and cargegivers.

The “WAVE” campaign is designed to help family members and caregivers educate themselves about healthcare-associated infections and the steps they can take to protect their loved ones.

WAVE stands for the following:

  • “W” — Wash hands
  • “A” — Ask questions
  • “V” — Vaccinate
  • “E” — Ensure safety
